Interviews are fun. Especially ones about a woman’s hair. Maybe it’s that they feel there is a voice and personality that needs to be shared but whatever it is, sharing is never a hard task for these ladies. Some of the questions I asked were as follows:
- What do you think of the word “nappy?”
- What kind of chemicals have you used on your hair?
- What influenced you to chemically alter your hair?
- Will you use chemicals on your hair again?
- How long have you been natural?
- What were your fears when going natural?
- As a child, what did you hear from those outside the black community about your hair?
- As a child, what did you hear from those inside the black community about your hair?
- Today, what did you hear from those outside the black community about your hair?
- Today, what did you hear from those inside the black community about your hair?
- Why do you wear your hair natural?
- Why do other women wear their hair natural?
- Why don’t other women wear their hair natural?
After their videos were recorded (of their full interviews) I took excerpts and piece them together in my first video interview compilation. Check it out!
